This week our theme is "How do I Keep Myself Safe?".
Today we began by learning about signs that keep us safe.
We then went for a walk around campus to check out some of these signs in person.
First, we found a crosswalk sign,
and practiced walking across it.
Then we found a handicap sign, and learned what that meant.
Look, a stop sign!
We now know that signs are shaped and colored certain ways, so that us non-readers can understand these important signs too.
After our walk, we came back to our room to practice coloring some of the signs we found.
Then we got to have a room picnic!!
YUM our sack lunches were delish!
Finally, this afternoon we were introduced to a new shape...the rectangle.
We learned that, like a square, it has four sides. However, a rectangle's sides are NOT all the same! There are 2 short sides and 2 long sides.
We then learned about another very important safety sign that is in the shape of a rectangle...a traffic light!
Check out how we used some rectangles and a few circles to create our very own traffic lights.
We had to make sure that we put red on top, yellow in the middle, and green on the bottom.
TaDa!
A big thank you to our Star of the Week, Austin, for sharing his super exciting Spider-man book with us today!
