I Use My Hands to Feel

Today we continued learning about our five senses.
We explored our sense of touch by feeling different objects and learning new words to describe them.
Then we each got a bag of small objects that all feel differently.
Find the object that is squishy...
James found the squishy foam shape.
We then glued the object above a finger labeled with the describing word.
Paul and Finley helped us figure out which object is bumpy...
a jewel!

Madison helped the class discover the rough sandpaper.

Rhys told us that the fuzzy ball feels soft.

Finally we added a piece of foil that felt smooth.
Next we did a listening activity.
1. Color the picture that would feel hot with your orange crayon.
Fire
 2. Color the picture that would feel rough green.
The Tree
 3. Color the picture that feels soft blue.
Cotton
 4. Color the picture that would feel sticky purple.
Gum

 5. Color the picture that would feel sharp or pointy red.
The Needle
 6. Color the picture that would feel wet yellow.

Along with our 5 Senses unit we are learning the wonderful story of Noah's Ark.  This will be covered all week in Religion with Mrs. Caldarera, so ask your kiddos some questions about this great bible story!
We must also note that this is quite a crazy week.  Not only do we have so much to learn in a shorter amount of time due to Labor Day, but we are having some fun visitors in between.

Today Fr. Erik came to visit PreK for the first time.
We loved telling him what we have learned so far this year, and filling him in on some personal stories as well.
Our other visitor A-Train will be coming in from now through next Thursday leading up to the big Boosterthon Fun Run.  He comes in to teach us some character lessons, and to cheer us on for the amazing fundraising our class is doing.
