Pets

Weatherman George got to point the weather chart to snowy!! It's a first for the year, so it had to be documented. Boy was it pretty! I may be alone in this but I'm craving a good build a snowman, have a snowball fight, make snow ice cream snow....just one, that's all I'm asking.

Anyway, today we began talking about the animals in our neighborhood. We have already learned all about the people and places in our neighborhood, so naturally we are finishing up the unit with animals.

Today we learned that most of the animals that we will find in our neighborhoods are peoples' pets, so we discussed what makes a good or bad pet.

Each student drew an animal from a bag and told us whether it would make a good or bad pet and why. Here are the pets that everyone drew.

They then graphed their animal in the correct column. Everyone did such a great job and had great reasons for why the animals would be a good or bad pet.

Then this afternoon we got to use our imaginations, and each student told the class what their dream pet would be. It didn't matter whether it would make a good pet in real life, because it was imaginary!

Then we all went to our sears and did a journal entry about it. Check out our great writing and wonderful drawings!
