Community Helpers

This week we have continued to learn about our neighborhoods, but have switched from learning about places to people. We began by talking about different jobs people in our communities have, and how they help make our neighborhoods a better place. We then discussed that we can tell what some people do based on what they are wearing. We also learned the reason these community helpers wear what the do.

Then today we discussed tools used for certain jobs, and which community helpers can help us in cad of an emergency...police, digger fighters, and doctors.

We then did a fun activity to create our own fire engines.

Each student was given a set of shapes:

Then asked to try their hardest to create a fire engine with those shapes:

Here's what we came up with:

Then we all worked together to perfect our shape building skills, and made some pretty coo fire engines with great chiefs driving them!
