What Will the Weather Be?

Wow, what a week!!

To start off the week, we had a school wide election.  PreK even got to vote!!
We each filled out a ballot and placed it into the box at the election booth.
Then the 8th graders counted up the votes, and as a school we voted to elect Hillary Clinton as our next President.

What a fun experience!

We also did a bit of turkey work that helped our direction following skills and handwriting.
Each student filled in the blank of
"Save a turkey, eat more ___"
with their favorite food.  They were asked to transpose their favorite food word from a paper that the teacher wrote onto their paper.

Then we did a whole group to draw and color an adorable turkey.
Everyone did a GREAT job!!

Also throughout the week we had an ongoing project that went along with our curriculum theme,  The Weather.

We learned that the weather is both what it looks and feels like outside.  We learned the tools that are used to measure the weather, and what type of scientists study the weather.

To begin our weather project we discussed what type of clothing we should wear for different weather.  Then we practiced our people drawing skills by drawing ourselves dressed appropriately for sunny, cloudy, rainy, and snowy weather.

Next, we used those people along with different textured materials to create our very own weather chart.
The class was told what type of weather we were going to do first, and they would have to try and find the correct label by finding the beginning sound of each word.  Then we would stick the label on and glue the person wearing the appropriate clothing.
We then accessorized each section with different textured objects to show the weather.

 These turned out SO cute!
Now the kids can keep up with the daily weather at home.

To finish up our fun weather week, we had a very special visitor!
Preston, from PreK B's dad is a meteorologist on channel 7.
He came and taught us all about different types of clouds, how certain types of weather happens, and how to be safe in it.
 What a special treat!!

Since we are talking about being Thankful this month, we wrote some special thank you notes to Mr. Todd.

Finally, today we did a fun lesson using the classic book, "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs".
We read the story then did a journal of what we wish would rain from the sky.

A big end of the week shout out to sweet Liza!
She was not only the Star of the Week this week, but it was also her 5th Birthday Thursday!!
