Patterns

This week we have begun working with patterning.  This is a skill that we use every morning during calendar, and will continue to work with throughout the year.

We began our pattern work with a SmartBoard lesson where everyone got a chance to complete or create a pattern.

We learned that patterns can be made by different objects, different colors, or even different sounds.  Yesterday we practiced making AB patterns using 2 different colors of apples.
We made pattern bracelets!

To continue working with this new skill, we did our first group work project.  Each table got to pick cut outs of 2 objects that start with A to create a pattern with.  They then worked together to successfully create an A pattern.

Tables 3 and 4 made Apple, Angel, AB patterns

Table 5 made an Arkansas, Angel, AB pattern

Table 1 made an Arkansas, Apple, AB pattern.

I have to give a shout out to our wonderful Star of the week Trip!  Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful T snack with us.  It was a MAJOR hit!

Here is Trip's great Star board.  Complete with pictures of himself and his beautiful family, a self portrait, and a fun Star interview.
