Happy October!!
Today we worked on our sorting skills, and learned that once objects are sorted they are then in groups or sets. To practice this skill we used an October fave...candy corn!
First we had to sort out an assorted bag.
Then determine how many sets we made.
3!
We then graphed our findings by counting the number of each type of candy corn and filling in a square on the graph for each.
As a group we had the most classic candy corn.
Then the class was split up into pairs to work together to do this on their own.
Everyone worked so well together!!
First, sorting.
Then counting.
Finally graphing.
This is such a smart bunch, and I was so proud of how well they HELPED each other out!
As we have been learning about being good helpers, we have been reading the classic story "The Little Red Hen". With this story we have learned that there can be different versions of the exact same story. Today we read the third version of the story, and completed our graph.
Look at all of the new words we learned:
Characters and Refrain.
Now time for some fun...Let's make some Little Red Hens!
First cut the hen body.
Next cut some wheat for the Hen to sit in.
Check out those mad cutting skills!!
Then cut a square into a beak shape.
Add an eyeball and a tail feather.
TA DA!!
How cute are these!?
Check out our sweet Star James' board!
