Living Things

What a week! I'm sorry it's taken me so long to post, but a snow day and a broken phone later...here it is!

This week we began a big 4 week unit on living things. This weeks' focus was on learning how to tell if something is living or nonliving.

Once we learned the 4 criteria all living things meet, we did fun picture sort. Each student was given a few pages from a magazine and was asked to work those fine motor skills as they cut out pictures of both living and nonliving things.

Then they were to sort the pictures they had cut into living and nonliving.

I'm so impressed!!

Then as they finished the cut and paste sort, they could turn their papers over to draw one living and one nonliving thing.

Since we learned that all living things must eat, we discussed how not all living things eat the same food.

Then we cut and reassembled a puzzle showing how humans grow and change.

Make sure to go from oldest to youngest!!

Later in the week we played a fun rhyming game! Everyone got part of an egg with a picture on it and had to find the person with the other rhyming half.
Bee Tree

Bat Hat

Car Star

Sock Clock

Then they put the completed egg in the Rhyme Nest!

Snake Rake

House Mouse

Fox Box

Finally, we ended our week by making our Qq Quilt page for our ABC book!

What a wonderful Star of the Week Addison was!! I am so sorry that the other pictures of this adorable star were on my old phone, so sadly they are gone:(. However, a million thanks for the wonderfully yummy A snacks:

AND angel food Cake!!
