After we discussed what many different baby animals are called, and after doing an animal sound guessing game, it was time to put our new knowledge to the test...
with a game of course!!
The students were all handed a card with either an adult or baby animal on it. Then they were spread out around the room.
When I said GO, they began making the noise of the animal pictured on their card, and walked around to find their partner who was making the same sound.
It sounded like quite the zoo for a minute there!
Horse & Foal neighhhh
Duck & Duckling quack quack
Cat & Kitten meow
Cow & Calf mooooo
Dog & Puppy ruff ruff
Goat & Kid baaaaa
Pig & Piglet oink oink
Hen & Chick cluck cluck
Then we began our lesson on how animals move by doing the movements ourselves.
Waddle like penguins
Elephants tromping
In our lesson we learned that animals either fly in the sky, walk on land, or swim in the water. We also learned that there are some that can do 2 types of movements!
Then it was time to put our new knowledge to work by sorting some animals into land, water, or sky.
And...this is adorable!
