What a wonderful first week the Stars finished up today!
This morning while the upper grades were in mass we got to have a little prayer service of our own. Mrs. Straessle read the wonderful book "The Kissing Hand" about a little raccoon named Chester who is nervous about going to school for the first time, so his mother kisses the palm of his hand and tells him to put it to his face any time he misses her.
This was a great message for these sweet new students who miss their parents at times, so they can remember that they are always loved, protected, and thought about by both their parents and God.
Another great book we read this week was "David Goes to School". This little boy is always up to no good, and this time it's at school. We learned that even though David is so silly, we don't want to act like him at school. Then we made some adorable Davids of our own!
This was our first whole group craft, and I must say that I am impressed with the listening and fine motor skills of this bunch!
Now, what they've all been waiting for...
Centers...FINALLY!!
Centers...FINALLY!!
The whole class has been anxiously awaiting getting to play with the fun toys in centers. These are all learning based centers, so the kids are gaining some wonderful fine motor, gross motor, academic and social skills, all while having fun with friends!
Austin and Rhys did a great job sorting and patterning at Math center.
Lynn and Charlie loved exploring with magnets and magnifying glasses at Science center.
Alex and Ollie had fun stamping and writing their names at Writing center.
James and Sully built some great towers using the giant legos at Blocks center.
Chloe and Madeleine glued and cut to their hearts content at Art center.
Mrs. Caldarera helped Paul and Ava explore Puzzles and Games center.
Since we have an odd number of students, there will always be one student who will be learning to self lead their playtime, and Miss Emilie had a great time listening to Llama Llama Misses Mama at Listening center.
Sweet Madison and Finley had a blast dressing up and playing house at Housekeeping center.
I was lucky enough to get to read a wonderful story to Sawyer and Allie at Reading center.
We get to go to 2 centers everyday, and by the end of the week we will have visited each one.
Time for center #2
Finally, a big shout out to our two new 5 year olds!!
Happy Birthday Paul and Austin!
Thank you Austin for the delicious cupcakes!!
Ok, here goes another great year in PreKA!!!
