Candy Corn

We have learned how to sort like objects by size, shape and color, so today we took it a step further. We learned that we can take objects that are visually nothing alike and sort them into sets. We began by all talking an object out of a bag, be it a marker, a dinosaur, a helicopter, or an ear of corn, and figured out how to sort them. We ended up with a set of food, a set of things that write, a set of animals, and a set of things that go. SO...we learned that although objects may look nothing alike, we can think about the bigger picture and figure out a way to sort them.

Once we got the sorting thing down, it was time to have some fun...with candy of course!!!
First everyone got a candy corn or pumpkin out if the bag. Then everyone got a chance to sort and graph their candy.

Then this afternoon we had fun making stained glass candy corns as our first Halloween decor for the classroom!
