Because E is a vowel, many people have one in their name. Do you have an E in your name? Is it upper or lowercase?
Even if we don't have an E in our name, we must still be able to write it.
Our number this week was 5.
5 is a pretty tricky number to write, so we practiced by using the poem/story/song...
The Five Little Pumpkins.
First we learned the song with fun hand motions.
Then we filled in the missing 5s in "The Five Little Pumpkins".
When the poem was complete, we drew our own illustrations of the story.
Next we got to use our imaginations to build a structure using different building materials that would hold Five Little Pumpkins.
Everyone worked so well in their groups to come up with some pretty creative structures.
Our class theme last week was "Are all families alike?".
To find out the answer to this question everyone introduced the class to his/her own family.
Then we worked on our people drawing skills to draw our families.
It was so fun to see how different all families are!
On Tuesday, we had a very special visitor...
Mrs. Susan from the Museum of Discovery.
She comes once a month to teach us about different types of animals, and brings one for us to get up close and personal with. This time she taught us all about invertebrates. We learned that all bugs, and many ocean animals are invertebrates.
Then to get us all good and grossed out...we got to see a real Madagascar Cockroach!
We even got to touch it!
While we were squirmy, we made our next spooky snack...
Spider Sandwiches!
To end this crazy week we had a very special school assembly.
Our school raised almost $6,000 for LLS by bringing in change all week!!
Because we brought in so much money two of our teachers got pies in their faces, and one of them got his head shaved!
Finally, a big shout out to our Star of the Week,
Avey!
Thank you for the delicious Angel cookies!
