Last week we finished up our plant unit by learning about the needs of this type of living thing.
We learned that in order for plants to grow, live, and reproduce they must have water, air, and sun.
Once we understood the needs of plants, and how they used their different parts to absorb these elements, we got to put it to the test with a few fun experiments.
First we filled some cups with water and added food coloring. Then we put some celery and white flower into the colored water to see if we can watch the stems and leaves soak up the water.
Now..only time will tell!
Next we began some growing of our own!
Each student was given a "Sprout House" to put a lima bean and moist paper towel in.
We left the top of the baggie open so that the plant could have air.
Then we placed them in the window so that they can get optimal sunlight.
We then made a few experimental bags to see what happens when you take one element away from the growing process.
Now we will observe and record our findings as our beans grow...or don't!
