It's a Feast

We have been hard at work this week as we learned all about the First Thanksgiving and the letter B.

After learning the story of The First Thanksgiving we made bracelets and each bead represented a different part of the story.  This will help us retell this important event over the break.

We learned why the holiday is called Thanksgiving by breaking down the word into Thanks and Giving.  We had many conversations about who/what we are thankful for.
Then each student made a special thank you card for different people around our school who we are thankful for.
Here we are delivering some of our cards.

Next we combined a Thanksgiving lesson with our letter of the week by learning to make Bread and Butter.

 Doin the Butter Boogie!

Look how well it turned out!
The kids (and teachers:) loved it!
 Well...most of them haha.
After learning about the Pilgrim way of life we began exploring how the Native Americans lived.
We made some great Native American villages.
We made them together by discussing different things they ate and where that would come from, also what their homes and land surrounding them looked like.

Next it was time to make our special outfits for the upcoming Feast!
We patterned headbands and drew Native American cave drawings on vests.

 How!!

Finally, we ended the week with a delicious feast.

We are all so lucky to have such wonderful friends and families!

We also have to say a big thank you to our friend Mrs. Susan from the Museum of Discovery.  She made her first visit of the year this week.  She will be coming once a month and bringing an animal for us to learn about.
This time she started out with a snake.

I am so impressed that the kids would touch it!
(I couldn't even go in the room)

One last big thank you to our friend Jonathan for being a great Star of the Week and for sharing his yummy Jello with us.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!!
