We learned what it means to investigate, and that you can truly investigate anything using your senses.
If we were Scientists, here are the subjects we would study:
Then we had a special visitor, Mrs. Jill, come to our class to do some fun experiments with us. Mrs. Jill is a high school science teacher, and Olive's mom.
We really put our investigation skills to work!
We learned about the gas bubbles in Coke, and if you put nerd candy in the Coke, the gas will blow up a balloon!
She taught us to use our different senses to investigate. We used touch to describe what we felt in the bag.
We made a crazy goo out of water and corn starch that was solid if you hit it hard, and a liquid if you slowly touched it.
We talked about density...whoa big word!
Will it float?
We got to use our sense of hearing to listen to each others' hearts using a homemade stethoscope.
Now was crazy...eggs in vinegar.
The vinegar made the shell go away and we could see what is inside without breaking the egg!
Mrs. Jill made us some more cool goo.
We got to investigate how clouds work by making it rain in a jar.
We helped make wave bottles.
Then Mrs. Jill's husband, Mr. Brad, came and made goo and a volcano!
William was a wonderful Star of the Week!
The watermelon was such a treat, and summer tease.
Finally, a big Happy Birthday to Sullivan!!!
Thank you for the yummy cookies.
