This week we learned all about The First Thanksgiving.
We learned that the Pilgrims came to America in search of freedom, but found hardship at first. They were give 5 kernels of corn, so we each planted 5 kernels of corn to see if we could sprout the same food that the Pilgrims did.
We also learned that the Pilgrims traveled to America by ship, and it was called The Mayflower.
Everyone made a Pilgrim self portrait.
Also this month we have been talking about being thankful, and how important it is to let people know that you are thankful for them. Each student wrote and hand delivered a thank you note to a different special member of our staff.
Mrs. Korte our nurse
Mrs. Suski our secretary
Mrs. Dobbins the principal
Mrs. Palazzi the technology specialist
Mrs. Straessle in PreK B
Mrs. Riley who used to be in our classroom
Mr. Rickey the school cook
Mr. Legris our music teacher
Mrs. Handloser the Vice Principal
Mr. David the school handyman
Mrs. Reynolds our Spanish teacher
Mrs. Baker the PreK B teacher
There were many more that, unfortunately, I did not get photographs with.
Finally, we couldn't talk about The First Thanksgiving without learning about the Native Americans who helped the Pilgrims adapt to their new home.
We drew cave drawing pictures on our vests, made patterns on our headbands, and strung colorful beads on necklaces to make us into Native Americans.
We had a super fun time learning all about the first American settelers this week!
To wrap it up, here's a big shout out to this adorable star, Hollace!
Happy Birthday sweet girl!
