To finish our week of weather fun, we learned about two more types of weather, wind and snow. We first talked about wind an how it works just like us blowing on something. With that, we discussed the concept of heavy vs. light objects, and how different speeds of wind move things. We each had a turn demonstrating this by trying to blow different objects to see if, and how, they move.
Although things can appear to be the same size, their weight is different, making it hard for the wind to blow them.
We discovered that the lighter something is, the more likely it is to blow in the wind!
Finally, we finished up our unit yesterday by learning about, my personal favorite type of weather, snow! We learned that the temperature has to be literally freezing cold to freeze the water in the clouds, which makes snow. We saw a good example of liquid turning to ice with a popice popcicle. We looked at and felt one in liquid form then looked at and felt a frozen one.
Then, the coolest thing happened! While we were at recess...it snowed in our classroom!!!
In our classroom it only snows in letters and numbers, and we have to tell what our letter or number is before we can play in it.
Now, playtime!!!
Can you see where Alex, Sofia, and Corinne wrote their names?
Here's an overall look at what we learned this week.
Our adorable star this week was Miss Amelia.
Thank you so much for the yummy A snack!!
