Star Light Star Bright

This week our theme is Nighttime.
We began our unit yesterday by talking about the moon.  We learned that it is lit up by the sun, and although we can sometimes see it during the day, it only looks lit up at night.
We then learned the phases of the moon.
Then today we moved on to our class favorite...stars!
We learned that they are made of gas and fire, so they can only be seen at night.  However, we know that the sun is so big that we can see it during the day!

Next we talked about shooting stars, and that you can make a wish on them.
What would you wish?
During centers we were all hard at work making the perfect ornament for our class Christmas tree.
Stars!

 Time to decorate...

 Tada!
Finally, we learned about constellations, and then created our very own.

Finally, each post in December will end with a Duckie update.
Silly elf hung himself on the wall with all of our elves we made yesterday!!
Just hangin with his friends, duh!

Meet Duckie

Big news!!! We got back from Thanksgiving break, and guess what!?
Santa sent our class an Elf!

The elf wrote us a note, and left us a book to read.
In the book we learned that the elf is here to watch us while we are at school then he uses his magic to return to Santa each night.  He then tells Santa all that happened at school that day, good and bad.  Boy I hope we all get on the Nice list this year!

There were a few rules and requests that he left for us:
We can't touch him or he will loose all of his magic.
&
Give him a name!
Naturally, it came to a vote:
and Duckie it is!
Then to begin our Christmas season, we got to go to the library with Kindergarten and listen to Mrs. Dobbins read, "The Night Before Christmas".

Today we arrived to find that Duckie had brought us a Christmas tree!
We decided to make him feel more at home we would give him some elf friends.

Finally, I must introduce our wonderful Star of the Week, Paul!
Oh, and this is too cute not to share...
Chloe was so excited to show me that she made a "mystery"!
haha

Turkey Day Hooray!

The day we had been waiting for finally arrived!
It was a gorgeous day to give thanks, and celebrate the First Thanksgiving.

It was such a pretty day that we couldn't keep our eyes open for the group shot...ooops!
*sorry

The table was set and ready for all little Pilgrims and Native Americans to gather together for a delicious meal of turkey, raisins , jello, cheese, popcorn, carrots & ranch, rolls, and juice.
mmmmmm
All of the guests arrived in adorable fashion ready to pray, sing, and eat.
 Then the feast began!
I had to share this adorable reinactment our Star Madison and her Hoot friend Taylor did...
First the Pilgrims and Native Americans were afraid of each other.
Then they realized that they could be very helpful to each other, and became friends.
One thing we are all so thankful for is family and friends.

Here are all of my Star Pilgrims and Native Americans chowing down.

Finally, we all went home with a delicious snack!
Happy Thanksgiving to all!!
