Lucky Me!

March is a great month to look at our lives and think about all that we are thankful for, or what makes us "Lucky".

Also, what a better symbol to hang around the room than a Rainbow!?
The symbol of God's Promise, of the beautiful weather to come, and of course it starts with R (the letter of the week:).
We made some pretty cool collage rainbows using paper we painted, scrapbook paper, pompoms, buttons, and sequins.

Cutest bunch of Leprechauns there ever was!

P is for Pete

This week we moved on to letter P, and what better theme to work with than Pete the Cat!?

We started by reading, "The Wheels on the Bus" Pete the Cat style.
Then we completed a chart using positional words.

The kids did a great job putting Pete where he needed to go!

Next everyone drew their very own Pete by following step by step instructions.
We used both oil pastels and watercolor to finish him off.

They turned out so great!

Next, we learned about sequencing.  How to look at details of pictures to figure out what order they should be in.  Then we worked on the sequencing of stories.  This requires good listening ears!
We read Pete the Cat "I Love my White Shoes" and then had to finish a story strip by putting the pictures from the story in order.

Finally, it was time for some direction following to put some shape Petes together followed by some creative writing.

Each student was given a different color of shoes, then came up with what he stepped in to make the shoes that color.
