What do we see when we look up in the sky?
We started with the night sky and thought of the moon.
We learned that the moon does not light up on it's own, but we are able to see it because of the big bright sun. We talked about how the moon doesn't always look exactly the same, sometimes it's shape changes.
We learned that as the Earth turns we are able to see different amounts of the moon, which creates the phases of the moon.
Next we talked about stars. Stars do light up on their own because they are made of burning gas.
We learned a big word! Constellation.
Then we made some constellations of our own that will stay on the ceiling of the classroom for the year.
Next, we discussed what we see in the sky during the day.
One thing we discovered were clouds.
Did you know that clouds can look like different things if you use your imagination?!
We made some clouds of our own then decided what they look like.
The kiddos were pretty creative!
Finally we discussed what clouds really do, they determine the weather.
We learned what different types of clouds are named and what type of weather they produce.
Then we made some cute weather charts to use at home.
First we drew people who were dressed appropriately for different types of weather.
Then we labeled the different weather sections of the chart.
We added different objects to make the sections look like the weather.
Then we had to pick which of the people we drew belonged in the correct section.
