For the letter S we made silhouettes. Everyone got a chance to come up to the board and try to pick out their profile, and it was super tricky!
Then we painted a pretty backdrop to put our silhouette on.
Who can you pick out?
Also this week we began learning about another type of living thing...plants.
We learned all the parts of a plant, and what they each do.
Then it was time for some experiments.
First, we put some white flowers in vases with colored water.
Here is what we thought would happen to our flowers.
Here is what actually happened to them...
they changed colors!
This was a great lesson to help us understand how flowers drink the water through their stems to their petals.
For our next experiment, we each created a "Sprout House" by putting a lima bean in a baggie with a wet paper towel.
Then we hung them all in the window for light.
We also put some beans in baggies and took one thing away.
One got no light, one got no water, and one got no air.
Finally, we observed them and wrote in our journals what was happening to them.
To end our week, we did a lesson on how to keep our teeth healthy since February is dental health month.
We picked out pictures of foods that are good and bad for our teeth.
Now for a big shout out to our sweet Star of the Week Turner!
Thank you for shining so bright, and for the delicious Teddy Grahams.
