All Aboard!

WOW!  What a day!!!
Get ready...it was jam packed.

We got to spend the entire day in our pajamas...does it get any better than that?

First thing this morning we got our tickets punched, and hopped aboard the Polar Express.

Definitely can't watch this frozen tale without yummy warm refreshments.
Hot coco and popcorn!

Then wouldn't ya know it Santa came to visit!!!
We each got to sit in his lap and tell him our Christmas wish.
Finally, we had a very special visit from Alex's grandmother, Savta.
She came to teach us all about Hanukkah.
Alex's Aunt Polly read us a story that taught us the history of Hanukkah and how they celebrate it now.
We each got to look at the menorah.
Then Alex gave us each a dreidel and some gelt.
Each student has a set of instructions in their bag, so they can play dreidel at home!
 Ava is already pretty good!

I love this sweet family so much, and really enjoyed getting to meet some of the extended members.
Thank you SO much for sharing a part of your culture!
Oh...and we ended the day with a special treat form Alex's family...donuts!
We learned that during this holiday it is customary to eat foods cooked in oil, so this was the perfect sugary snack to end our CRAZY (but oh so fun) day.

Gingerbread Week

Run run fast as you can, it's time to catch up with the Gingerbread Man!

We had such a fun week last week with our Gingerbread Man unit.  Each day we read a different version of this classic tale then charted the characters, refrain, and ending to compare.
The books we read and charted were The Gingerbread Man, The Gingerbread Girl, The Gingerbread Bear, and the Gingerbread Pirates.

I have to also thank James for sharing Gingerbread Friends, and Alex for sharing The Matzo Ball Boy.

Also this week each student made a gingerbread kid of their own.

How cute are these!?

On Thursday we had planned on having gingerbread men for snack, but this little guy had another idea....
We got to the classroom, and our cookies were gone!  The Gingerbread Man was on the loose in our school, with our snack!
We began our wild goose chase for the cookies.
The first clue lead us to the library.
The second clue led us to the office, and they hadn't seen that pesky Gingerbread Man.
Where were our cookies!?
Of course...another clue...
that led us to the cafeteria.
Finley found it in the lunch line, and would you believe it...
this one led us back to our classroom!!!
Boy was it worth it!!!

Finally time to indulge.

That afternoon we made two charts:

Which part did you eat first?

And, Do you like gingerbread?

YES we LOVE gingerbread!!!

Latest Duckie update...
that elf made quite the mess in our block center.

Finally, thank you to sweet Chloe for being an amazing Star of the Week this week.
We all LOVED the Cookies for Chloe...yummmo
