Apple Krispies

Oh My Goodness...another month is gone!!! I can't believe how quickly this year is already flying by. Because it is our last school day in September we made our last apple treat...Apple Krispies!

We made the usual Rice Krispie treats with cereal, butter, and, of course, marshmallows. The only difference is the addition of a package of Strawberry Jello for flavor and color.

Then we all formed our own apples, added a tootsie roll for the stem, and a gummy leaf for the leaf.

Ta Da!!

They turned out pretty cute, and really yummy...even Winn liked them;)!
These could be cute pumpkins too!

We started off our day by finishing up some projects:

We added the leaves to our Fall length trees:

They turned out pretty cute!

We finished our C page for our ABC book:

Then here are some snapshots of some great work being done at centers.
Hannah and Julia put the entire sequencing puzzle together in order...

And Tripp wrote some awesome words at writing center!

Then we learned about how healthy exercise is for us, so we did a little workout!

Thanks for being such a great Star Grant! Here's his Star wall:

So sorry for not posting yesterday! I was home with a darn back ache, so I couldn't very well post on a day I wasn't present.

I'm so so glad to be back, and we had a great Hump Day!

We are talking about measurement this week. Yesterday the class learned about weight, and what tools to use to measure weight. Today we talked about length and the tools needed to measure it. We first measured our hands with cubes.

Our class average was 6 cubes!

We then began a fun Fall length project.

First step:
Put the paper strips in order from shortest to longest

Like a tree!

Second step:
Glue it on the paper in the same order

Now time for the Fall leaves!!

Thanks for the yummy G snacks yesterday Grant!

(Not my best crown...I apologize)

Applesauce

Our Friday started with a new experience for us. Half of our class started going to the gym as usual, while the other half went to the computer lab. We had a great time on Starfall.com playing fun alphabet games, and learning at the same time!

Starfall is a GREAT tool to use at home too!

Today was also a day about food, as it was the last day for Star Emma, and another fun apple day!

Emma brought her E snack today of English muffins and peanut butter...mmmmm.

Then we made homemade applesauce!

We peeled and chopped our apples and put them in the crockpot:

we then added our sugar, water and cinnamon:

Squeezed our lemon:

Then we stirred, stirred, stirred to get it all mixed up:

Let it cook until after rest time, and ate it up!

Win. Was not so sure about it though...

Thank you Emma for being such a great star!
